Fence Project

Remember the old RIBs fence? I’m sure you saw it once or twice on your way towards Cayuga Lake. It was a 50 feet long fence made of bikes and parts of all colors, shapes and sizes. Unfortunately the fence was removed and more structurally sound fence has been put in its place, but its lacking the excitement and character of the old fence so we are going to do something about this! We are going to paint a mural on the new RIBs fence and we want YOU to help us.

RIBs is asking local artists to submit design ideas for a mural project. RIBs is looking to bring some life to its new fence. We are calling on artists to envision and design a mural that will encompass the mission of Recycle Ithaca’s Bicycles and the Southside Community Center.

Submission are due before April, 2012

Details: The canvas is a wood fence, 60 feet long and 6 feet tall).

Location: Meadow Street at West Buffalo St. (site of Recycle Ithaca’s Bicycles)

Timeline: We are hoping to start the project as early as March. Submission are due before April 2012.

• sketch of proposed design
• list of materials and budget for materials
• description of work

Selection Process:Members of RIBs and the Southside Community Center will serve as the selection committee.
